MAC Rhi Rhi Woo Lipstick

(Image from Temptlia.com)

I am a huge red lipsick fan. I never really check to see if they are cool or warm toned, if its a shade I don't have in my collection I am buying it!

Mac's Russian Red was the only Mac red I had in my stash, with Ruby Woo always tempting me, but when I saw Rhi Rhi Woo pop up on Rhianna's instagram account I knew I had to get my paws on it.

The swatch above I pinched from Christine from Temptalia.com as I still haven't had a special enough occasion to use it. It just looks too perfect in the bullet, with the signature etched into the side, Is any one else like that?

Rhi Rhi Woo is a matte cool red with a retro finish, It is supposed to be very similar to their classic Ruby Woo with a slightly more deeper colouring.

Have you tried Rhi Rhi Woo? Or any other of Rhiannas Mac collection?

An introduction to Clarins Skincare

Clarins Facial Skincare

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

When my favourite beauty bloggers highly recommend something it immediately goes onto my lust list on my phone. This purchase I blame on Anna from Viviannadoesmakeup after raving about the Clarins Liquid Bronze Self-Tanning Lotion in numerous posts and youtube videos. Due to my very very pale skin complexion I often need a little colour just to take the edge off.

In the past I had tried a whole range of facial tanners that either clinged to dry patches, went streaky if applied in a rush or didn't add a splash of bronze at all. So when  I came across it in my local beauty salon when having my eyebrows waxed (and it came with a few freebies) I couldn't resist.

The easiest way to describe it is like a milk, its quite watery in comparison to most fake tans. Once applied all over the face it sinks in super quick so is ideal as a final step in your evening skincare or in the morning a few minutes before you apply your make up. I like to apply it a couple of times a week with my hands to I work it more accurately around my hair line and blend it around my décolletage but it can be applied with a cotton pad if you prefer. For £18 (I think it can be found cheaper online) I think its great for girls that need that little bronze boost.

As I also brought the Clarins Extra-Firming Day cream for my mum (She can't live without it) I was allowed to pick three (large) samples so I chose the hugely popular Beauty Flash Balm which I had never tried before and now can't apply my make up without, the Smoothing Body Scrub which is such a nice exfoliator I like to use weekly for a pick me up and the Vital light day SPF 15 which came in handy over the few days of sun we have had so far.

As a Clarins virgin before this mini haul I am really impressed and keen to try a few more, I would say its a little pricier when I would usually spend on skincare but after the difference it has made I think it is worth the investment.

Are there any Clarins Products you think I should try next?

Embellished

Caviar nails have been so popular recently, so many places sell sets now from the original Ciate sets to Nails inc and Topshop. It wasn't a trend I was dying to try out even though I love my nail polishes and I always let it pass me by.

That was until I saw this small set for a purse friendly £2.50 in Primark, it was too much of a bargain to leave. After painting 2 coats onto each nail when still still tacky I poured the beads on my ring fingers and then patted down a little and left to dry (I love an accent nail so thought this would be a better option than a full on manicure with the beads like directed.) The beads stick instantly and went on evenly which was great. I really like the finished result but after only a day some beads began to fall off and loose their colour. I would recommend the set just because its so cheap, the nail varnish alone is worth that as it is such a gorgeous deep pink colour. I would say if you want the beads on your nails for an event to do them that morning just to ensure a perfect finish.

What do you think of the Primark Embellished set? Have you tried any other Caviar nails sets?

MUA Heaven & Earth Palette

I love brown eyeshadows. I don't tend to wear any other colour, maybe a green if Im feeling brave but browns tend to be a constant may it be day or night. I had seen the MUA Heaven & Earth Palette around in the blogosphere but MUA isn't sold in my local superdrug/boots and I didn't think I was greatly missing out, ooh how wrong I was! When I saw the last palette on the shelf and saw how gorgeous the colours were I knew it had to come home with me.

I am lucky in the way that all the colours in the palette suit my skin tone, depending on the look I am going for may it be flawless and natural or deep and smokey. Seen as the palette is a bargain £4 I didn't have much hope for the quality of the products, but again I was wrong. I use a flat eye shadow brush to pack on the colour and then blend with the mac 217 brush which leaves a lovely flawless finish with no harsh edges. The eyeshadows are really pigmented and I love that so far I have experienced little to no fall out when applying. I was really impressed with the staying power too, after applying a smokey eye and then working a long 8 hour shift in a pub there was little creasing and the colour was still strong.
I can't receommend this palette enough especially due to the price, I am looking to perhaps grab another in some more daring colours to help me break out of my brown eyeshadow rut.

Have you tried the MUA Heaven & Earth Palette? Or can you recommend me any others?

Rook Piercing

Last thursday at the spur of the moment my best friend and I decided on an impromptu visit to Inked Up a new Piercing and tattoo parlor in Chester. I have wanted a rook piercing for almost a year now but could never justify the trip to Manchester (where I have had my previous piercings done) Just to get my ear pierced. My good friend Rebekah had a tattoo at Inked Up and could only rave about the place so I knew I would be in safe hands.

The Gorgeous Rebecca Fox pierced it for £20. On a pain scale of 1 to 5 I would say it is a 4, it did hurt but not unbearable pain and it definitely helped to have a friend there to hold my hand. Now still healing, I clean it twice daily with either warm salt water or liquid savlon and have had no problems. I have bashed it twice when answering the phone and forgetting the piercing is there but its not been catching on anything, getting tangled in hair and I can already sleep on it.

I know piercings aren't to everybody's taste but personally I love it and so glad I had it done. If you want to check out my other piercings I have written a post about them Here

Do you have your rook pierced? or have you been thinking about it?

The Perfect Bourjois Base

Naughty Boots again with their 3 for 2 offers, I have no self control when it comes to them. I was only popping in to repurchase the lovely Healthy Balance Powder and walked out with a whole new Bourjois make up collection.

I have been using the Healthy Mix Foundation for a few months now and I love it. I use it everyday saving my luxury/heavier foundations for evening looks. It the perfect medium coverage and goes on amazing with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I find so difficult to find good matches for my skin tone and Bourjois products are perfect for pale skin on the high street.

The Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder seems to have been around for a long time so I thought it must be worth a try and I am so glad I did. One of the best things about Bourjois make up is that they smell good but the bronzing powder smells amazing! It smells like Vanilla/holiday/suntan lotion... if thats a good description? Also up until now I have struggled to find a bronzer that works well with the Real Techniques Contour Brush but when used together they leave a perfect defined but natural finish.

I brought all products in shade 52 and will definitely repurchase them all, together they are perfect for my pale normal/dry skin and the fact they smell so good and are available on the high street they make the perfect make up base.

Have you used any of these Bourjois products? Or will you be running out to grab the 3 for 2 deal while you can?

Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Colour in Pink Buff

A perfect 'Your lips but better' lipstick.

This lipstick was a a naughty impulse buy from the amazing 'Cosmetic Company' Store. If your not familiar with the store get down to year nearest Designer Outlet shopping centre ASAP. 'The Cosmetic Company' house is a discount store full of products from a selection of high end make up and skin care brands such as Mac, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Ojon and Origins. It is the Beauty Bloggers holy grail. The products usually available are end of line products or shades that don't sell particularly well, which is great for girls with pale skin tones like me!

Having a lipstick addiction I instantly gravitated towards them. I my regular readers will know I love Bobbi Brown, their make up just suits my skin type and are perfect matches for my skin tone.
I just saw the lipstick and thought 'yes' I needed it, no swatching necessary.

'Creamy Lip Colour' is 100% correct, it is the most luxurious feeling lipstick I have ever tried, so nourishing and soft in a lovely natural peachy pink colour with a gorgeous sheen. It is so natural looking you don't need a mirror to apply it which is perfect for the day time and is a fantastic colour for when your going for a natural but polished look.

Have you tried the Creamy Lip Colours from Bobbi Brown? Will you be running down to your closest Cosmetic Company Store?

How I Store My Make Up

I was so excited when I came across these drawer dividers in Home Bargains. I had been searching all kinds of stores from B&Q to Muji for something that was adjustable and that I could put together myself.

For £2.99 for 3 strips of dividers which you can snap to the length you want and little slits so that they lock together, they are an amazing deal.

The main drawer in my dressing table had all my make up thrown in, so organising it all made me very excited indeed!  The end result now looks like this, every thing now has a place and when sections are full there is a one in, one out policy to help me control my spending.

I recently brought some more dividers to separate my underwear inspired by Mrs. Thrifty's post and was then thinking about doing it for my jewellery, this may become an organisation obsession!!

I love reading make up storage posts, so I hope you enjoy how i've stored mine, if you have one please link it below in the comments I would love to see.

Good Things Five Minute Facial Face Mask

I discovered Good Things completely by accident, a few months back when I needed pack of face wipes to take on a trip and they were on a deal and I liked that they smell all fruity. Now I'm a convert when repurchasing some wipes to take to Mexico boots had one of their oh so terribly irresistible offers on to buy any two Good Things products for £6. Out of all the products I decided to try out the 'Five Minute Facial Face Mask' The only face masks I have ever tried are the Superdrug own brand ones, which are nice but in those annoying little sachets, so I thought it would be nice to have one at home I could use weekly rather then just the off treat.

With super fruit extracts Avocado and Goji Berry and all their products being free from nasties such as parabens, sodium laureth sulphate and animal ingredients I like that their products are made from 'Just good things'

My favourite thing is that the mask smells so nice, I am always tempted to eat a little it smells so good! I usually slap it on after I have taken my make up off and before a shower. After it goes hard (When you can hardly move your face, my favourite bit) I then pop in the shower and wash it off with a muslin cloth. Before bed I then lather on some of my evening moisturiser and by the morning my skin looks much more brighter and clearer.

The old sciencey bit says that the mask contains green clay and kaolin to draw out impurities, avocado oil to moisturise, goji berry extract to soothe and willow bark extract for radiance. I can defiantly tell a difference once I've used the mask, I try to use it every week or when my skin needs a pick me up.

At £5.99 its certainly worth the money. I love that its made from loads of natural ingredients and any nastiness is left out, it smells gorge and its a nice little 5 minute treat to add to the evening skincare routine.

Have you tried any Good Things products? Do you think you will give the 'Five Minute Mask' a try?

Miles Kane

Back at the start of february my boyfriend and I were lucky enough to get tickets for a very intimate Miles Kane gig. He played in one of my local music venues Central Station as a warm up gig for the NME Awards tour he is currently on (well im guessing thats why) He played a few new tracks from his  yet to be released new album (which I can't wait to get my hands on) and most of his first album including some of my favourite tracks 'Come closer' and 'Rearrange'. It's so much fun to see an artist you love in such close proximity in a room full of other fans.

I was a big Rascals fan back in the day and completely wore out my Last of the Shadow Puppets album (Age of the Understatement is still in my top ten most played) I just think the Miles kane Mod-esque genre is right up my street.

I have seen Miles play before at Leeds Fest, T in the Park and Benicassim. If he is at a festival you are going to this summer I cannot recommend you see him more, its the perfect music for dancing with your mates with a cider in hand, you just feed off his enthusiasm on stage and the whole crowd has a good time.

If you haven't brought his 'Colour of the Trap' album I would highly recommend it specially if you are into Indie/Rock & Roll like me.

Are you a Miles Kane fan? Do you have his album or intend to buy it? Are you planning on going to any of his gigs or see him at any festivals?
