Vintage Fashion Show

Eeekkk I have been asked to model in this Vintage Fashion Show. I have never modelled or anything like that before and thought it would be a bit of fun (I am a little nervous though).
As I am a pear shape they chose 50's style dresses for me to wear and was really happy with the dresses they have assigned me. I went for a dress fitting fitting yesterday and really enjoyed meeting everybody. I am so excited to go and have my hair and make up done on the day, hopefully I can get some tips on how to do vintage rolls in my hair.
If you do live around the North West then why not pop along for a fun night of Fashion and Cupcakes.

An interview with...... Scarlett Hearts & Giveaway

I came across Scarlett Hearts by a friend tweeting about their lovely new purchase. I really loved the bargain jewellery available and think its a little hidden treasure. The lovely Charlottle has been kind enough to give us a little interview to help us get to know Scarlett Hearts a little better.

Tell us a little about your background and how you developed in interest in jewellery making.

I’ve always been obsessed with jewellery, even from a young age playing with beads and dressing up in my mums jewellery. As I got older I started buying costume jewellery from the high street and I always had something different to everyone else.

I’ve worked with jewellery for over 5 years now! (That makes me feel very old!) I work part time in a high end jewellery Store, and when I first started we are taught how to make minor repairs to the jewellery. I guess this is where the interest in making jewellery came from because I seemed to have a knack for it, I seemed to pick up the techniques quickly and putting an extension on a necklace became like second nature. I’ve worked in this store for 5 years and in that time I have gained an understanding of the jewellery itself and retail.

How did you come up with the concept for Scarlett Hearts?

I started making the jewellery for myself during my time at Uni (I have a degree in Geography, no relation to jewellery making or business running…..oops!). As the high street increased their prices for costume jewellery my bank balance was ever decreasing. By making my own jewellery I was making something unique to me, which is something which the high street struggled to offer anymore.

Friends started wanting pieces of my jewellery and suggested I started selling in online. I set up my big cartel account over a year ago now and Scarlett Hearts is going from strength to strength!

Is there meaning behind the name 'Scarlett Hearts?'

My Granddad used to call me Scarlett, all because of a red velvet dress that I used to wear. I always wished that was my real name instead of Charlotte. Scarlett Hearts as a name grew out of many a scrupled piece of paper and in the end it just seems to fit perfectly together.

What inspires your jewellery designs?

I have an eclectic bunch of friends and they always inspire me. I love seeing them wearing my jewellery, makes me think I’m doing something right because they all have different pieces which match their personality perfectly!

Other inspiration comes from trends, I look at magazines when the approaching seasons trends are coming through, I try to think of ways to relate that into my jewellery.

Bloggers and You tubers are a big inspiration! I love to catch up with my fave blogs and find out what they are wearing clothes wise. This allows me to see the trends on the high street and I try and complement my jewellery to that!

Alongside all this, I still stand true to my original reason for starting Scarlett Hearts, having something Unique! I want to make items that are unique to my customer!

How long does it take to make each piece?

It varies depending on the item.

Who is your typical customer?

My Typical customer is aged 16-30 ish who has a jewellery obsession and is looking for something unique but doesn’t want to break that bank balance!

Who would you like to see wearing your jewellery and why?

I’d love to see celebrities wearing my jewellery! Although I personally love to see my customer wearing my jewellery, I love to be tagged in photos or when they tweet me them! That gives me the best buzz!

What other jewellery designers do you admire?

I absolutely adore Butler and Wilson items because they always have something different!

I also used to love Lady Luck Rules OK, I was so sad when they stopped selling jewellery because they also fulfilled my search for something unique! I hope that I am that company that has that effect on people!

What piece of jewellery should every woman have in their jewellery box?

There should always be that necklace that someone is going to stop and say “I love your necklace!”, That necklace is always going to be the piece that brightens up your simple outfit and gives you the finishing touch!

Are there any jewellery designs or materials you would like to try?

I’d love to be able to use more acrylic; I have some ideas for the future regarding that so stay tuned! I love days when new supplies arrive, I just always can’t wait to get started!

What can we expect next from Scarlett Hearts?

Hopefully we will continue to grow; I want to make Scarlett Hearts a go-to for all your jewellery needs! I want more unique pieces that everyone is going to comment on when you wear them! It’s all very exciting at Scarlett Hearts HQ at the moment and I’m still learning every step of the way which is amazing! I can’t thank you enough if you have purchased some Scarlett Hearts in the past year!

Also to top it off Charlottle has offered this gorgeous Spike necklace to giveaway to L.Loves readers.

A Prior Engagement

One of my boyfirends good friends proposed to his girlfriend on Christmas day (Aww) and they held their engagement party last friday. As I was working all over the Easter weekend I was really lucky to to able to swap shifts to get the night off. This outfit was thrown together quickly to get to the party as soon as I could after work.

Dress - Asos (Pinched from sisters wardrobe)
Blazer - Zara
Shoes - Missguided
Belt - Urban Outfitters

It was nice to see a few friendly faces I hadn't seen in a while, but it was a bit rubbish I couldn't join in the merriment as I was driving, However I did make up for the lack of alcohol by consuming a lot of cake! I really wanted to take outfit pictures before the party but we were in a rush so unfortunately these were taken by a very tipsy boyfriend on the way home.
I love this belt and it was a bargain £5 from Urban Outfitters, it is a little big so is better worn over looser dresses like this so it isn't so obvious. I am looking at ways to alter it so it fits my waist better. Again I am wearing my favourite leopard print heels, I always think there is something Oliva Palmero about them.
I am glad the Midi length dress is still on trend this season, this way I don't need to keep on top of my tanning and I think they can look classy or casual depending on what you wear them with, definitely a day to night piece you can wear particularly while the weather is still unpredictable.

Any Tips on how I can tighten my leather belt? Are you a fan of the Midi length dress?

Fiesta Havana

On Monday night a few of my friends and I went out for a meal and drinks in Chester to celebrate our friends birthday. I really love the necklace and waxed jeans I have recently brought and wanted to show you and I am very proud of myself wearing such a bright coloured blazer (Still keep meaning to add more colour to my wardrobe).
This is the first time I have used a tripod to take outfit post pictures and I don't think the images have turned out too bad, just think I need to hunt out a better background as stood in front of my shoe rack hung on my door and inbetween my bed and wardrobe is a bit too cluttered.

Top - River Island
Waxed Jeans - Zara
Blazer - Primark
Shoes - Missguided
Necklace - Urban Outfitters

I really love these leopard print heels, they arn't the most comfortable but are perfect for an occasion like a meal as your sat down most of the time, I am always looking for excuses to wear them because I cant last in them usually when on a night out with friends as after an hour on my feet I am reaching for my emergency flats.
I am keeping my eyes open for more bright blazers, I think its a really easy way for me to add colour to my current wardrobe and It makes a statement all on its own.
I also really like my contrasting nails, when reviewing the Topshop Nail Varnish (Here) I was a little disappointed with the colour as I was expecting a more orange shade but its really grown on me.
We ate Tapas, Fajitas and had yummy cocktails at Fiesta Havanas and was nice to have a girly night after an easter weekend of working non stop.

Do you have a favourite pair of heels you love but can't wear because they hurt your feet? Have you discovered an easy way to add colour to your wardrobe?

Benefit Boing Concealer

I had first brought Benefits Boing Concealer two years ago from a Sephora in Paris. I had read about it on a few blogs and thought I would give it a shot, even though I thought it was a good product afterwards my curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to experiment with a few more concelers.
Well I have now realised...... This is the best!
It is now a firm staple in my make up bag that I cant imagine living without. The shade I wear is 02 and its lovely and creamy and very easy to blend. It hides my dark circles with one swipe of my finger and disguises any blemishes I may have.
Benefit packages are always so cute and its the perfect size to pop into my handbag if I need it with me for the day. I would always recommend this concealer, particularly to anybody who has dark circles under their eyes like myself.

Have you ever used this colcealer? Is there one that you cant live without?
